Ukrainian-Chinese research center “Belt and road initiative”

At the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year, the joint work of Skovoroda University with one of the higher education institutions of the People’s Republic of China – Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technologies was introduced, and on December 3, an online meeting of the leadership of Hryhoriy Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav (formerly Pereiaslav-Khmelnytsky Hryhoriі Skovoroda State Pedagogical University) and Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technologies (GDUPT) took place, during which the Agreement was solemnly signed  and the Short-Term Strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the prospects for further cooperation, the conditions and terms of the online Chinese course for the student and teaching staff of our university were discussed.

The purpose of the agreement is to create a Ukrainian-Chinese research center “Belt and road initiative” on the basis of the Hryhoriі Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav to establish and develop cooperation between the Parties in the field of education, science and culture.

Directions of the Center’s work for 2020-2021

• Implementation of an online course on learning Chinese for students, graduate students and teachers of UHHRU
• Organization of an online English course for GDUPT students, postgraduates and teachers
• Conducting a series of open lectures, round tables by scientists of UHHRU and GDUPT in order to develop intercultural communication and language skills
• Joint search for grant programs to ensure scientific cooperation between UHSP and GDUPT

The implementation of the outlined areas of work by the Ukrainian-Chinese Research Center “Belt and road initiative” will allow organizing productive cooperation between the Hryhoriі Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav and Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology in the field of education, science, culture, including the exchange of cultural experience, language learning and joint research.

The premises chosen for the Center are located on the ground floor of the university administrative building (about 40 square meters).

At the moment, the short-term strategy of the first year of the Center’s activity has been presented, but it is not limited to the above-mentioned and does not exhaust all prospects for cooperation. These activities can be carried out by partners as they are prepared, and can also be carried out in parallel.
